Bio: I developed a photography interest “backward”—from a budding graphic design hobby in the ‘90s where I learned Photoshop and Illustrator. When doing tutorials on editing photos I realized I didn’t really have any. So I bought my first digital camera (1 megapixel!) and never looked back. Fortunate enough to travel sometimes for work, I quickly became enamored of travel and landscape photography, both around the world and in our beautiful PNW backyard. I’ve passionately tried to improve both photo and editing techniques for over 20 years.

My “Aha Moment” in Photography: after reading a few books on photography and finally upgrading to an “advanced” point-n-shoot camera with some manual controls, I still remember the first “deliberate” photo with my young daughter in the snow … where I used a +1.5 EV adjustment to get a nice wintry scene correctly exposed in-camera after a rare Portland snowfall.

Photographic Specialties: travel, landscape, long-expo, night.

Favorite Gear: my little Leofoto tiny travel tripod and a 10-stop ND filter are items always in my bag, whether traveling light or not. Love a good short-focal distance wide-angle lens on most outings.
