Milky Way workshops are extremely weather-dependent. We keep an eye on the forecast, and if we need to change the date, we'll talk with you to find the best alternative. We target a few days from the planned date or the same day of the following week. Sometimes before the scheduled date ends up working best.

About This Workshop
In this workshop, we will meet just after sunset at one of Oregon’s most spectacular views to capture the Milky Way as it aligns with Proposal Rock on the Oregon Coast.
We will demonstrate various techniques and gear to help you capture amazing images. You will be shown nighttime tips and tricks, how to use tripods and self-timers, varying shutter speeds, focus in challenging situations, and capture different times of night for artistic blends in post-processing.
What You Get
Personal attention: this workshop is limited in number to provide individual instruction.
On-site instruction: how to successfully capture amazing Milky Way images.
What to Bring
Certain equipment is required and participants will need a basic understanding of photography. Be sure to bring:

Tripod is critical.
Remote shutter release (you can use the self-timer on your camera if you don’t have one).
Appropriate clothing for possible wind and chilly temperatures. Expect changes through the workshop.
Preparing for the Workshop
How to use Manual mode on your camera to adjust the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
How to use your remote shutter release or the self-timer on your camera (if you don’t have a remote shutter release).
How to set focus to get tack sharp images.
Use the histogram on your camera to validate exposure.

Transportation, lodging, meals: participants are responsible for their own transportation, any overnight stays if desired, and meals/snacks. (Note: be sure to consider the possibility of a date change when planning travel & lodging.)
Facilities: public restrooms may require some distant walks back or pauses from the group.
